Using the CJ Vise

To use vise:

Remove bindings from board. If you leave the bindings on the board they tend to act like heat sinks. While waxing it will become hard to get the wax to absorb properly and you risk heating the base to an elevated temperature.  At elevated temperatures you risk breaking down the lamination of the base and introducing small air pockets in the base.

Connect vise to top of board.  This vise will accommodate both 3-hole and 4-hole insert patterns.

Flip the board over, and clamp the vise onto your bench and you are ready to wax or stone the edges.

In the horizontal position you can wax and scrape your board without having any obstructions to deal with like bungee cords or clamps.

The board can also be turned to the vertical position. You simply rotate the knob while holding onto the board, and then retighten the knob.

In the vertical position, which gives access to either side of the board, you can stone your edges.

The big advantage with this vise is that you never have to remove the board from the vise to put it into a horizontal or vertical position. The positions are changed with a simple twist of a knob. There is never any contact with the base or edges. When scraping wax you never have to worry about the board slipping from the anchor points, like bungee cords, sticky rubber or suction cups. As stated earlier the vise accommodates either 3 or 4 hole insert patterns and any style of board can be tuned, be it Alpine or Freestyle.
